The Trump Administration has just terminated Moore Community House's

grant from the Department of Labor Women’s Bureau.

 

On May 6, 2025, Moore Community House's Women in Construction Program (WinC), as well as other grantees across the nation, received notice that our grants from the U.S. Department of Labor Women's Bureau, the Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) grant, had been terminated immediately - prior to the end of its contractually obligated, 2-year period of performance without clear explanation or the opportunity to respond to any concerns.

 

This grant funding has been specifically appropriated by Congress, through the Women’s Bureau, which operates by mandate from Congress dating back 105 years, serving America’s working women under both Democratic and Republican administrations.

This decision not only disrupts essential training for Mississippi women seeking high-wage, high-demand careers, but also undermines state and federal efforts to increase workforce participation in infrastructure, manufacturing, and construction fields.

 

Immediate termination of this funding puts WinC at risk of eliminating vital services that help put women in our community on a pathway to higher earnings. Obviously, this would be devastating for us.
